A Modest Proposal for Protecting the Children of Pali High

As Palisades Charter High School moves to return to in-person instruction, the new location leaves a lot to be desired. I, like many other parents, am very worried about the state of Downtown Santa Monica as it is overrun – I am going to put this in a very polite way– with questionable people from Skid Row. Now, I would never disparage any fellow human beings, but it must be said that these dirty homeless are an existential threat to our young students who now have to step into their world. How are our darling children supposed to feel safe knowing that the second they walk out of their classes after a long day of learning, they will be bombarded with hordes of groaning, ratty homeless?

To contend with this threat, we must understand the source of homelessness in Downtown Santa Monica; The E Metro line.

Every day, this disgusting excuse for a train ships in countless undead to trudge and moan down Broadway and 3rd Street.  If this line only harms our community, the natural solution would be to eliminate it. By dismantling this E line and the Big Blue Bus system taking all kinds of creatures into Santa Monica, we can cut this homelessness apocalypse at its source and make Santa Monica more comfortable to us Palisadians and our cherished, precious children.

As per the comment I got under my last community post, slashing all public transportation into Santa Monica we can both reduce homelessness by 2000% and cut city taxes to programs that we don’t even use. For a long time, city officials and climate change believers have claimed that public transportation is a great way to get around Los Angeles and reduce traffic. Compared to the inside of a BMW x5, the Metro is a shipping container with stained carpeting. You can’t ride the Big Blue without 50 fetid, squalid, disgusting homeless throwing up or starting a fight. At least I assume; I never have to use public transportation. On that point, we don’t even need it! Who would choose to ride the train over the comfort of their big, clean, private vehicle? Even when my dear, innocent, adorable children go downtown, I insist on always giving them a ride in mommy’s Mercedes, I would never make them use this barbaric system. Last I checked, almost no Pali students even use the Metro or public bus system. At least, none of the kids of my Palisadian friends do.

Cut the bus and drain the train. Because we all know that all of our children will stay in areas like the Palisades forever, there’s no point in teaching them how to deal with other people in different circumstances. God forbid our kids learn to live in the world they will deal with as they grow up or witness the consequences to how our society treats the less fortunate. Better to save our teenage children, and ourselves, from facing reality.
